Hello everyone 👋🏾,,
Our story begins at a time when a young boy is asked to translate for his mother who only spoke Spanish and was diagnosed with diabetes type-2.
During this time, the young boy had a hard time translating since he didn’t understand the medical terms the doctor was using. He felt useless since he loved and cared for his mom’s health.
After a few years, that young boy grew up, went to college, and graduated with flying colors. Although that was the case, he never forgot his mother’s experience at the doctors. He sought to make a change, to bridge the gap between wellbeing and people that looked like his mother and himself.
My name is Heber Miguel but I go by the name of Heber Michaels, in a different post I’ll talk about the implicit bias within the US healthcare system.
I have made it a life goal to bridge the gap between well-being and everyone that doesn’t fit the average US demographics.
To better help my mom and her struggle with diabetes, I sought out healthcare providers that could relate with her in two ways; language and cuisine. Like many of you know, the Latin cuisine is different from that of the United States.
Through my search, I was able to find a provider that both spoke Spanish and understood the Spanish cuisine so my mom didn’t have to change what she was used to eating while combating diabetes.
After seeing how my mom’s health was improving, I knew I had to replicate this in the town I grew up in, across the nation, and around the world.
That’s exactly what our team in Kamino Care has done.
At Kamino Care, we’re paving a new path to wellbeing. Our goal is to help every Latinx individual in the United States and across the world.
As of late, we’ve launched our version 2.0 on both the Apple Store and Android Store. You can download it now for free and also get a free 30 minutes session with one of our providers who fully understands the Latin cuisine and culture.
I hope you enjoy it! As always any feedback is much appreciated.
Thank you,
Heber
